WA Collaborative Cancer Research Grant Partnership Announced

The Minister for Medical Research, Hon Stephen Dawson has announced today the Cancer Research Trust (The Trust) has been successful in securing a partnership with the Future Health Research and Innovation (FHRI) Fund through its Co-Funding Partnerships Program for the WA Collaborative Cancer Research Grant.

The FHRI Fund and The Trust will match funding to provide up to $1 million per annum for a period of five years for the Grant, with the potential for renewal for an additional four years, contingent upon satisfactory review. This generous funding has the potential to amount to a total of $9 million over nine years, underscoring the dedication of both the FHRI Fund and the Trust to fostering groundbreaking research and innovation within Western Australia.

This substantial Grant represents a significant milestone in the pursuit of innovative cancer research in Western Australia. It offers substantial funding and support for high calibre teams of WA based researchers to pursue broad based, multi-disciplinary advancements in the cancer field.

One of the notable features of the Grant is its flexibility and potential for long-term impact. The five-year funding period, with the possibility of renewal for an additional four years, allows researchers to undertake ambitious and comprehensive projects.

The Grant will be awarded through a rigorous and independent (external to WA) selection process, ensuring that the most promising and impactful research proposals receive the necessary support. Both FHRI Fund and the Trust are committed to upholding the highest standards of excellence and integrity in the allocation of funds.

Further information regarding key dates and relevant details for the submission of Expressions of Interest will be made available on the CRT website (www.cancerresearchtrust.org.au) in mid-June 2025.
